Seawives Supported Charities 2015
While SeaWives was very much in the planning stages, we felt strongly that as a business we should do our best to give back to this wonderful global community that we are so proud to be part of.
We looked into various seafaring/maritime charities and decided to pick two worthy causes per year to support and encourage our readers, members and friends to help with where at all possible.
As everyone knows times are hard, but as the saying also goes “There is always someone worse off than yourself.”
Sometimes it is not possible for people to give financial contributions to charities, so as a team and a family, we at SeaWives feel that giving our time, taking part in events and raising awareness of the fantastic work that these organisations accomplish can be equally as important as financial input.
2015
This year we have chosen as SeaWives to actively support Seafarers UK and Mission to Seafarers.
Seafarers UK – Seafarers UK is a charity that helps people in the maritime community, by providing vital funding to support seafarers in need and their families.
They do this by giving money to organisations and projects that make a real difference to people’s lives across the Merchant Navy, Fishing Fleets, Royal Navy and Royal Marines.
The services funded have a positive impact on all seafarers. Last year we gave grants totalling £2.5 million to over 80 maritime welfare charities. Seafarers UK receives no government funding and is heavily dependent on public donations and legacies to maintain its grant-making programme.
The Mission to Seafarers – Whether caring for victims of piracy, providing a lifeline to seafarers stranded in foreign ports, or simply providing a space to relax and a listening ear, the Mission is on hand night and day to support the world’s 1.5 million seafarers.
There are many other very worthy charities out there and whilst this year we are choosing to concentrate our efforts with the afore mentioned organisations , we are also open to helping out where ever we can and are happy to promote other relevant and worthwhile causes.
